LA weekly - blog posts disappearing. This is why the DMCA is bad. You can censor just about anything by sending a DMCA complaint (legit or not), and the hosting provider has to take it down or risk a massive lawsuit. Web hosts and ISPs are just common carriers like the phone company. They shouldn't be held responsible for what their users post. Check out [http://www.chillingeffects.org/ Chilling Effects.org] to see how this happens and what to do abt it.

Report Calls Online Threats to Children Overblown. Just shows the taliban's demands to censor and control the internet are based upon crap. People need to watch their kids, but the "everyone is out to kidnap, molest and kill children" theory is out. The root cause of this is just another example of big media using scare tactics to get ratings. Then religious zealots and psychotic people use the news stories as "proof" we should lock down the internet to their control. Yeah, because I want the real murderers in control of my internet access.

Humana insecure drug search I finally found where they hid the app to search for drugs supported by your plan. I had to go to humana-medicare.com to find it.

Humana's site is screwy. It'll tell you you need to log in when you already are, but if you go through the stupid form, it'll eventually tell you if your plan supports it. (I think, it is really screwy, like microsoft designed the fucking thing.)

ecofont was made to save ink when printing. Said to reduce it by up to 20%. Haven't been able to really check it out though, the site is Slashdotted.

Last night Coast to Coast was talking about aspartame and how bad it is. I did a search on the drugs I take (mostly blood pressure and such), and it turns out the Tylenol EZTabs have it in them! I just threw the box away a few days ago, and I guess I didn't look at it close enough. It did taste sweet and made me feel a bit funny. I just thought it was the pill and they coated it with suger/flavoring.

I think I'll just stick to the cheap ass brands. It seems these days the "high value" brands do things which are completely stupid and make their products suck, yet the low price brands seem more in touch with their customers. It used to be the other way around.

To illustrate my point, let's go for cream cheese. The Philly brand now makes their crap completely tasteless. I'm not sure exactly why, my guess it is either to appeal to diet freaks or to save money. (Why buy the expensive brands when they use the cheapest crap techniques possible?!?) If they do that to appeal to diet freaks, then why not give people a choice? Yet, the "generic" brands, such as Albertsons and Flavorite have lots of good cheesy flavor. I like them much better.

Then there is Sony, which in my experience, always seem to have one little part go bad which makes the device a pain to use. This has happened to me several times. Even with their Playstation, it seems to have a defect where at times it refuses to acknowledge there is a disc inside, so you have to fight it. This happened when I had a Playstation 1. ( did it happen with the PS3 too?)
